synopsis
Inti, the director of the film, returns to the house of his grandmother Mercedes, an Inga indigenous, in the Sibundoy Valley of Putumayo, to seek answers to a disturbing dream about his own death. Together, they will embark on a physical and spiritual journey through family memories and Inga culture traditions, to understand the mysterious presence of the deceased grandfather Antonio who calls out to Inti in his dreams. The film blurs time and reality as we witness the protagonist’s memories as a twelve-year-old boy accompanying his grandmother Mercedes in her mourning. The world of the dead and the living coexist in the large family house that holds the memories of the past and the echoes of those who inhabited it. “The Threshold” is a film that wanders between dream and reality, between life and death, to understand the importance of honoring family bonds, spiritual connection, and embracing the mysteries of life.
