JACANAMIJOY
Inti Jacanamijoy (born 1996 in Bogotá, Colombia) is a film director graduated with honors from the École Supérieure de Cinéma de Paris (ESEC). He directed “Pidbang” (2017), his graduation project written by Amaury Arseguet, an official selection of the Colombian International Film Festival NYC 2018. He has collaborated with young directors from different nationalities and was part of the association El Perro que ladra in Paris, where they organize the Panorama de Cine Colombiano. Currently residing in Colombia, he founded the production company La Cueva Films. The company has produced independent projects such as the short film “La Manuela” (2019), distributed by Bogoshorts Film Agency, an official selection of the Panorama de Cine Colombiano 2019 and the Popayán Short Film Festival 2020, and the short film “Sentir” (2019), acquired by Cine Colombia for national theater distribution.
He pursued a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Creation from the Pontifical Javeriana University, where he graduated with honors. His thesis project “El Caminante” received an honorable mention from the Faculty of Arts. He is currently in production for his first feature film, “El Silencio de la Montaña,” selected for the Walden Residencies and winner of the FICCI 2020 Documentary Film Workshop. He has also directed documentary short films, “Bojayá, un canto por la memoria,” “Palengue, espíritu sueto,” and “Espiral de pensamiento” (2022) for the Commission of Truth. Additionally, he works as an audiovisual director at the Gaia Amazonas Foundation.
His work is focused on themes of identity, landscape, family, and dreams. His personal questions and reflections have led him to direct documentary short films and to engage with indigenous communities in the Amazon, Sierra Nevada, and La Guajira regions.
